INAUGURAL ASSEMBLY OF THE WORLD ASSICATION OF ELECORAL BODIES (A-WEB)
Sarajevo, October 14, 2013 – The inaugural assembly of the World Association of Electoral Bodies (A-WEB) has been held today in Songo District South Korea. The Assembly was attended by more than 130 officials from 120 states, amongst which also the representatives of the BiH Central Election Commission Mrs. Irena Hadžiabdić and Mr. Branko Petrić. The BiH Central Election Commission, as an active participant in the process of establishing this Association, was elected to the Audit and monitoring committee of the A-WEB. The host of this event is the National Election Commission of South Korea.
The main topic of the Assembly was “Sustainable electoral process, strengthened democracy”. It is expected that the association will have a key role in the global exchange of knowledge between the election management bodies in the world.
6th Conference of the Global Election Organization (GEO) will be held at the same place, in Songo District in South Korea, from October 15 to 17, 2013. The host of this event will be National Election Commission of South Korea and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
