MEETING – DELEGATION OF COUNCIL OF EUROPE AND BIH CEC
Sarajevo, November 24, 2015– President and members of the BIH Central Election Commission met today in Sarajevo with the delegation of the Democratic Governance Directorate of the Council of Europe led by Mr. Francois Friedrich, Head of Election Assistance and Census Division.
The interlocutors discussed organization and administration of 2016 Local Elections in BiH. Mr. Friedrich expressed Council of Europe’s readiness to continue cooperation with the BiH Central Election Commission.
Dr. Ahmet Šantić, president of the BiH Central Election Commission, presented several project that the BiH Central Election Commission would implement with possible support of the Council of Europe. The accent was placed on projects relating to education of members of election management bodies, and education of other participants in the electoral process. Education of election administration in use of election risk management tools was also accentuated during the meeting.
The results of today’s meeting and support of the Council of Europe to concrete projects of the BiH Central Election Commission are expected in the forthcoming period.
