VERIFICATION OF POLITICAL PARTIES AND INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES COMPLETED

Sarajevo, June 9, 2012 – The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has today completed the procedure of checking and verifying political parties and independent candidates to participate at the Local Elections, scheduled for October 7, 2012.

Out of total 87 applications for verification of political parties the BiH Central Election Commission verified 85 political parties for constituencies and for the bodies of government for which they meet the conditions set by the law. Out of 338 applications for verification of independent candidates (whereof 48 applications of independent candidates of national minorities, 3 applications of associations that applied with 3 candidates and 5 candidates who applied on behalf of the citizen’s groups) the BiH Central Election Commission today verified 280 independent candidates and 53 independent candidates representatives of national minorities.

Applications of following political parties were completely rejected:
1. Bosnian Democratic Party because it was pronounced an administrative sanction in 2011 prohibiting the party to participate at the forthcoming elections;
2. Congress People’s Party of protecting right of soldiers and citizens – justice and morale of BiH, because if failed to submit the proof on paid tax as well as signatures of support.
