INITIATIVE TO FIND THE MODES FOR INTRODUCTION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES INTO THE ELECTORAL PROCESS IN BiH
Sarajevo, February 10, 2016 – The BiH Central Election Commission organized yesterday in Sarajevo an event entitled “THE USE OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES IN ELECTORAL PROCESS”. The event was organized in cooperation with the Association of Election Officials in BiH and with the financial support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in BiH. The event was an excellent opportunity for many world renowned companies to present their equipment for advancement of electoral process. Office of the High Representative to BiH has earlier initiated a launch of the project to assess possibility to technically improve the electoral process in BiH.
The BiH Central Election Commission finds e-technologies to be imminent future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Introduction of modern technologies into the electoral process in BiH, and primarily into the vote counting process, would be the most significant project after the introduction of passive voters’ registration in 2006.
Yesterday the attendees adopted the conclusions to be used by the BiH Central Election Commission to launch an initiative for establishment of a special inter-departmental working group to analyze the situation and to propos modes for introduction of new technologies into the electoral process in BiH. The initiative will be forwarded to the BiH Council of Ministers and the members of the working group should be representatives of the BiH Ministry of security, BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, IDDEEA, BiH Ministry of finance and representatives of the BiH Central Election Commission. The objective of the inter-departmental working group is to recommend modes for introduction of new technologies into the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
