VERIFICATION OF CANDIDATES’ LISTS
Sarajevo, July 31, 2012 – The BiH Central Election Commission has in the process of reviewing and verifying of the candidates’ lists and candidates to participate at the Local Election, that will be held on October 7, 2012, verified a total of 2.251 candidates’ lists.
A total of 30 352 candidates were verified, whereof 29 801 candidates for councilors and 551 candidates for municipal/city mayor.
On 66 candidates’ lists 113 candidates were not verified. The main reason for rejecting verification is failure to adjust the candidates’ lists to the legal provision on gender representation.
The candidates’ lists contain:
Women 10759- 35,5 %,
Men 19593-64,5 %
Candidates up to 30 years of age 9118- 30,1%
Candidates over 30 years of age 21234- 69,9 %
The decisions of the BiH Central Election Commission on verification and dismissal of candidates’ lists and candidates will be available today on the web site www.izbori.ba, and will be considered as delivered to the parties in the process. An unsatisfied party has the right with two days following publication of the decisions on the web site to appeal before the Appellate Division of the BiH Court through the BiH Central Election Commission.
The decisions will be accessible to the public today from 20:00 hours on the web site of the BiH Central Election Commission www.izbori.ba .
