Recall of the mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo municipality conducted in line with the law

Sarajevo, 17.08.2023 - The Central Electoral Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has at today's 58th session adopted a decision establishing that the recall procedure for the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality, Hadžibajrić Ibrahim, was carried out in accordance with the law and that his mandate as Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality ends on the day the aforementioned decision becomes final.

The decision will be published on the website of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina www.izbori.ba, and it will be considered that on the day of its publication it was delivered to all participants in the procedure to the mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo.

The appeal against the decision shall be submitted to the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina within two days following receipt of this decision through the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with Article 6.9 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After today's decision becomes final, and in accordance with Article 14.3 of the Election Law of BiH, the Central Election Commission of BiH will pass a decision on calling of early elections, which determines the exact date of the elections. Early elections are held within 90 days from the date of dissolution of the elected body, i.e. termination of mandate in accordance with the constitution and the law. No less than 30 nor more than 90 days can elapse from the day of announcing the early elections to the day of holding the elections, and the mandate of members of bodies elected in early elections lasts until the expiration of the current mandate of bodies elected in regular elections.
