Podgorica, 14.05.2024– The two-day conference titled “Promoting Conditions for Free and Fair Election Campaigns in the Western Balkans” commenced today in Podgorica, Montenegro. Organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, the conference aims to foster dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders to enhance the electoral process in the region.
Representing the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Suad Arnautović, a member of the CEC of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the conference.
The conference is part of the project “Support to Electoral Reforms in the Western Balkans” (WBFU), which is financed by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency.
Key areas of discussion during the conference include: strengthening conditions for a free and fair campaign environment, ensuring equal opportunities for all election campaign participants, promoting the participation of underrepresented groups, including women, national minorities, and people with disabilities, in the election campaign, facilitating equal access and impartial monitoring of the election campaign in the media, including online platforms.
The conference provides a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge and insights and to develop strategies for enhancing the conduct of election campaigns and the overall electoral environment in the Western Balkans.
