The process of verifying the applications of political subjects for participation in the Local elections in 2024 commenced
Sarajevo, 31.05.2024– The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina commenced the process of verifying the applications of political parties and independent candidates for participation in the 2024 local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina during its 28th session today. The elections are scheduled for Sunday, October 6.
The deadline for submitting applications for political parties and independent candidates elapsed on May 24, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. A total of 122 applications from political parties were submitted to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Of these, 82 political parties fully meet the certification requirements, while 35 parties meet them partially, and 5 do not meet the requirements at all.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will notify the political parties that, within two days of receiving the notification, they must rectify identified deficiencies or irregularities for basic constituencies where a sufficient number of valid signatures of support were not submitted. They are required to submit additional necessary documentation.
A total of 238 applications for verification of independent candidates were submitted to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Out of these, 169 independent candidates fully meet the certification requirements. Among them, 40 independent candidates represent national minorities. However, 23 independent candidates have deficiencies in their applications, and 46 independent candidates did not adhere to the prescribed application procedure.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will notify the 23 independent candidates with identified deficiencies that they must rectify these within two days from the receipt of the notification.
Additionally, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected the applications of 46 independent candidates due to their failure to submit the applications in the prescribed manner.
The deadline for political parties and independent candidates to rectify deficiencies expires on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
