Public vacancy for the appointment of President/Deputy President of the polling station committees in constituencies across Bosnia and Herzegovina” published

Sarajevo, 14.06.2024 - The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced today the „Public vacancy for the appointment of President/Deputy President of the polling station committees in constituencies across Bosnia and Herzegovina.” The vacancy has been advertised in daily newspapers, on the Central Election Commission's website, and will also be promoted on the BiH CEC’ social media platforms. Additionally, information about the vacancy will be available on the websites of municipalities/cities i.e. election commission of basic constituencies, as well as on bulletin boards in municipalities/cities.

The public vacancy will remain open for 8 (eight) days from the date of publication on the website www.izbori.ba. Candidates are required to submit their applications for the vacancy, along with necessary evidence of meeting the specified conditions, electronically to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This should be done via the e-Elections portal and the “Application for work in polling station committees (presidents/deputies)” available on the website of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A candidate for the position of president or deputy president of the polling station committee must not be a member of a political party, nor hold any position in the bodies of a political party, association, or foundation that is connected to a political party either organizationally or financially. Additionally, they should not be engaged in any activities associated with a political party and must demonstrate the ability to perform their duties in a politically impartial manner.

President of the polling station committee:

-         Manages the operations of the polling station committee and, in collaboration with its members, is responsible for lawfulness of the operations at the polling station.

-         Safeguards the integrity of the voting process and maintains peace and order in and around the polling station.

-         Allocates tasks to each member of the polling station committee.

-         Completes all necessary documentation.

-         Ensures no weapons or hazardous items are present at the polling station.

-         Addresses all issues related to voter identification and eligibility to vote.

-         Assists voters requiring additional clarification about the voting procedures.

-         Records the time and circumstances of any exceptional events at the polling station in the Minutes on operations of the polling station committee.

The deputy president of the polling station committee holds the same rights and responsibilities as the president in the event of the president’s absence during voting or ballot counting.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will appoint approximately 12,000 presidents and deputy presidents of polling station committees through a public vacancy.
