Sarajevo, 26.6.2024. - The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has completed the certification process for political subjects participating in the 2024 Local Elections, scheduled for October 6 this year.
A total of 122 applications from political parties were received, out of which 117 were successfully certified. Additionally, 238 applications were submitted for the certification of independent candidates, with 146 receiving certification. Notably, this includes 43 independent candidates representing national minorities. Among the 55 parties initially denied certification, 10 filed appeals. The Court of BiH upheld all the decisions of the BiH Central Election Commission. In total, the BIH CEC received 59 coalition certification applications and 9 applications for certification of lists of independent candidates, all of which were certified.
During the verification process for coalitions and independent candidates, some political parties and independents participate solely within coalitions or lists of independent candidates. Therefore, a total of 300 political subjects are expected on the ballots, comprising 113 political parties, 76 independent candidates, 43 independent candidates representing national minorities, 59 coalitions, and 9 lists of independent candidates.
The process of submitting candidates' lists begins today, June 26, 2024, and will continue until July 8, 2024, concluding at 16:00 hours. Candidates' lists must be submitted through the online portal “e-izbori”.
